NDIS Plan Management

What is NDIS Plan Management?

NDIS plan management is the way in which funding in your National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plan is maintained and how you can maximise the benefits. There are several ways to manage your funding , so it’s important to make the right choice.

Agency Managed

When you choose this option, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) manages your plan. They pay your providers directly, but you can only access registered providers from their list. You cannot negotiate prices and there’s limited control over how you spend your funds.

Self Managed

By choosing to self-manage your NDIS funding, you or your elected nominee is responsible. While you have full control over your plan and budget, you must open a separate account, keep records, notify NDIA of any changes and manage all claims and funding allocations. You may have to pay for services upfront but can gain more freedom and flexibility by negotiating rates.

Plan Managed

This is the best option if you want flexibility and control, without worrying about regular administration tasks or upfront costs. Plan-managed offers the same benefits as self-managed but you choose a provider to handle record-keeping and maintenance. Your plan manager can negotiate lower prices, stretch your funds further, adjust budgets and make claims on your behalf. Plan-managed is covered, responsive, customised and connects you with registered and non-registered providers.
